Loft conversions are becoming increasingly popular and we’ve been spending the last few months getting to work on these exciting projects.

There are a number of ways to convert your loft, but a roof light conversion or dormer extension are by far the most popular. The most cost-effective option is the roof-light loft conversion as you most likely won’t need planning permission or building regulations, provided you have enough head space (you will need a minimum height of 2.2 metres from top to bottom). It’s also the least disruptive way to convert your loft as you can simply install roof windows without changing the roof structure itself.

However, in some cases, you may benefit from a dormer extension which will give you more space and is suitable for the majority of properties with a sloping roof. This option is also ideal if you don’t have the adequate head height in your current setup. Dormer loft conversions do require cutting into the existing roof and changing the structure so you may need architectural drawings and planning permission, depending on your requirements.
